Tripped and Tied
don't give me that look
I can't resist it
I never could refuse you anything
you really wanted
open up that book and read me one more sonnet
I delight in hearing anything you have to say to me
time to time I get tired of all humanity
got to run away and hide my heart under the sand and sea
tripped and tied down in my life and waiting patiently
I hide my real feelings in a tide of animosity
savour every word
you're indiscreet and
sometimes I'm in awe of everything
in this whole world
accidentally swerved to run me over
and every minute wore a smile from ear to ear
at this audacious girl
wonder in my heart and mind
wonder if I'm dumb and blind
is your humour really kind?
and where the hell's my brain
I'm watching roadmaps for a sign
will I reach the city train on time?
I for one will miss
the sunlight bliss and a snowflake's kiss
we watched the stars all swinging cross the sky
their distant fires are bejewelled eyes
in the field of days...
time to time I get tired of all humanity
got to run away and hide my heart under the sand and sea
tripped and tied down in my life and struggling desperately
I hide my real feelings in a tide of curiosity
I'll always be the same
with my pencil and my pain
self indulgent and inspired
there's a kind of desperation
always scrambling up my thoughts
surging from electric down to tired
don't give me that look
I can't resist it
I never could refuse you anything
you wanted me to do
open up that book
I'll read you one more sonnet
I delight in hearing anything I have to say to you
what do I have to say to you?
