The Jordans

Has To Pay

she’s driving fast along the freeway
with the seeds of doubt forever in her mind
she's never given too much leeway
not above suspicion though her fears are ill-defined

someone has to pay, oh no
there's no doubt that it all will end in tears
someone has to pay and stay close
to bring about the one thing that she fears
she has nothing to fear but fear itself

the rhythm of the wheels is slowing now she's changing gears and putting on the brakes
look at all the steam she’s blowing, can’t she realise she's making a mistake?
half a k along the highway there's a roadhouse with a telephone out back
it's looking like the last chance cafe, make that call or forever be off track

someone has to pay, oh no
there's no doubt that it all will end in tears
someone has to pay and stay close
to bring about the one thing that she fears
she has nothing to fear but fear itself
